Following a methodology and using adequate toolsets is vital for the successful completion of a project. Every project, regardless of its type, topic, sector or size follows such methodology, which goes through the same stages. Projects of all types follow a similar framework that includes five key stages or phases, which are essential for the effective and successful completion of a project, called the ‘project life cycle’. The project life cycle provides predictability and guides the specific tasks and responsibilities of each stage. When managing a project, the five phases of the project life cycle are as follows: Initiation, Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Closing.
